Mr. Socrate Safo, nominated chairman for The National Classification Authority under the Ministry of Arts, Tourism and Culture whose core mandate is to access audio-visuals by ratings and classifications. Has revealed on Sammy Flex Tv that laws have been passed fully by government to enable them operate effectively without delay.
Unlike other committees set up by government who end up battling with law approvals for operations, he said;
“The law has been passed since 2016 under Mahama’s jurisdiction. We have the authority to operate fully and nothing can stop us.”
Also, he explained that the board does not have the right to take out scenes from videos brought before them. Their duty is to rate and classify videos as in groupings based on contents and the time within which they should be aired.
He said the committee is not a sensor, that, according to him is illegal as per Ghana’s constitution. He told Sammy Flex the host.
“The only time the board will take a scene out of an individual’s work is when it infringes either on a religion or on the country.” He added.
Mr. Socrate Safo, the committee chairman deemed it quite exciting occupying the position since he admonished Ghanaians and individuals seeking for local content to exercise patient because the time has finally come. He figuratively told practioners to get ready for work.
This to him, this is the kind of change the creative arts space needs and he is happy to be the one to bring out the change.
